Bush opted for a modest $61,000 (£40,000) rug featuring an inspirational sunbeam pattern, while Bill Clinton ordered a $38,000 sombre navy rug with a large presidential seal in the centre, and senior Bush a blue-grey rug worth $28,550 with a gold seal.
