Donated equipment and flooring revamps Chicago fitness centre

We love a “good news” story around here – they’re a rarity these days, and this is certainly a nice one.

A couple of companies in Chicago have been cherry-picking schools to donate their surplus stock to. So good so far, but the prime company concerned supplies gym equipment and the other provides rubber flooring.

They hatched a plan to use the stock they no longer required (wrong colour or dimensions for commercial sale) to build school gyms in schools they felt were most deserving.

The idea being that kids behave and remember better with more physical activity. Well, that and there’s fewer sick days that get pulled!

Great idea, and nicer still was the fact that when called upon to comment – the companies concerned refused. It’s rare that the seemingly good guys refuse to take credit for doing good deeds.

That aside, it seems a great idea to use non-slip rubber flooring for fitness centres – and makes complete sense when you consider that they provide not only a non-slip, durable surface but their capacity to absorb impact for both noise reduction and preventing injuries makes it a sure fire winner in our books.

Have a look for yourself and see if you could use it too…
